Our IT Governance practice was established in 2000 because our founders saw a need among their peers on boards of directors and in the C-suite to understand IT so they could fully support IT initiatives.

During their combined fifty-plus years of executive management and serving on boards of directors for public, private and non-profit organizations, they leveraged their software industry backgrounds to enable corporations to enhance their adoption of technology.

Out of these experiences, they discovered a growing chasm between the business interests of the company and the requirements of developing software and information systems.

They set to work to design IT Governance solutions to enable corporate leadership to meet the expanding challenges of increased competition; improving return on IT investments; accelerating new product time to market; increased quality, innovation, transparency and risk management; enhanced customer satisfaction; increased capacity to reach new and satisfy existing customers; and enhanced corporate performance.

As Director of Products and Purchasing for two 'start-ups' -- Ingram Micro and Merisel (SoftSel) Larry was the head of purchasing and product merchandising where he launched and managed acquisitions as well as hardware and software assets from a large base and wide range of developers, manufacturers and service providers.

As General Merchandise Manager on the founding team of Egghead Software, he served six years as Senior Vice President of Merchandising & Purchasing from inception to over $750M in annual sales. During this time, he managed billions of dollars of technology assets in multiple national retail locations supplied by four regional distribution centers. As co-founder and COO of genSoft Development, he developed and marketed unique xBase technology and intellectual property which was acquired by CA.

In 2001 he co-founded Software Management Systems, Inc. a Microsoft Certified software asset management firm. Ms. Murry's background in compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley began with the legislation when she submitted testimony to the Congressional delegation on Representative Michael Oxley's House of Representatives bill. When Senator Phil Sarbanes' bill was passed, she commented on the Senate/House combined committee's reconciliation and recommendations for the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002. During the SEC's promulgation of the 1102 provisions of the Act, she provided comment and recommendations for implementation. She is well-versed in the intricacies of COBiT/COSO, AS-2 and Gramm Leach Bliley. As a result, she developed methodologies for IT departments to comply with the new regulatory environment and advised in responding to audit deficiencies. Ms. Murry lectures and presents web casts on IT Governance in conjunction with Microsoft and authors white papers for NACD and Microsoft.

Ms. Murry founded or co-founded five technology companies and assisted in bringing them through multiple liquidity events including ipo and m&a transactions. She expanded the advisory practice to navigate the complexities of Sarbanes-Oxley for small and mid-caps to avoid triggering in-depth investigations and shareholder litigation. At Autodesk Corporation, she was Strategic Product Manager for AutoCAD-LT with sales topping $60 million in its first release. She developed the first integrated enterprise-wide software for the $6 billion SMB marketplace and sold the intellectual property in 1996.

Ms. Murry served in various capacities on boards of directors including alternately chairing audit, compensation and executive committees. She also served as Corporate Secretary for four years of a public company board. She served on the boards of directors of recordLab Corporation, Bellevue Philharmonic Orchestra, CPM Associates, LLP and Captain Avalanche. Currently, her board assignments include Software Management Systems, Inc. and ITGS.
